Hi, expecting mothers and supporting families! My name is - Clara Cotton. I’m a certified doula, birth educator, and postpartum support specialist with over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. My journey into birth work began long before I became certified—supporting friends and family through their birthing experiences, including five vaginal births and three cesarean births. That’s when I knew this was my true calling.

Before stepping into the world of birth work, I served my community as a registered medical assistant & certified nurse assistant, also a massage therapist. Now, my heart is fully committed to supporting women—especially women in my community—through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.

I’ve been happily married to my husband, Kenny, for 32 years. We have three beautiful daughters and are blessed with two amazing grandchildren, Tristen and Atru. Faith plays a big part in my life, and I’m deeply thankful to God for guiding me along this path.

I’m here to walk beside you, support your choices, and help you feel empowered and cared for every step of the way.

Why I Became a Doula

As a mother of four and someone who has worked in healthcare, I’ve seen both the beauty and the challenges that come with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My own experiences—combined with witnessing the disparities in maternal health care, especially for Black and Hispanic women—inspired me to become a doula. Too often, women in these communities are unheard or underserved during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. I became a doula to change that.

With a heart for advocacy and a passion for education and support, I walk alongside families to make sure they feel empowered, respected, and cared for—emotionally, physically, and culturally. Birth is powerful, and every woman deserves to be supported by someone who sees her, hears her, and honors her journey.
